Supporting Health and Dignity in the Face of Forced Displacements

Forced migration exposes individuals—especially women and children—to life-altering risks, including violence, trauma, and an increased vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. At Angels Refugee Support Foundation (ARSF), we stand with refugees and host communities in Uganda to address these challenges head-on.

We recognize that the path to safety should not come at the cost of health. That’s why ARSF is committed to both prevention and responsive care—working at the grassroots level to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and ensure access to vital services.

Through regular information sessions in Kampala and Nakivale Refugee Settlement, we create safe, inclusive spaces where health workers engage directly with refugees and host communities, offering:

  • Life-saving education on HIV/AIDS prevention,
  • Voluntary testing and counseling services, and
  • Referral pathways for care and treatment.

We believe that ending HIV/AIDS is a collective responsibility. By uniting communities, health professionals, and advocates, we can reduce new infections and ensure that everyone—regardless of their circumstances—has access to treatment, dignity, and hope.

Join us in building a healthier, safer future for all.

Together, we can make a difference!

Forced migration increases HIV risks due to violence & instability. At ARSF, we empower refugees & host communities in Uganda through education, testing, and care. Prevention is a shared responsibility. #HIVAwareness #RefugeeHealth #ARSF

Fostering Peaceful Coexistence Through Inclusive and Culturally Sensitive Community Engagement

At Angels Refugee Support Foundation (ARSF), we believe that real impact begins with connection. In our ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities, we’ve seen firsthand how inclusive and culturally sensitive engagement can transform lives and relationships.

One of our most powerful approaches has been organizing safe, welcoming information sessions that bring together hundreds of participants from all walks of life. From men and women to youth, elders, and people living with disabilities—everyone is welcomed, heard, and valued. These sessions aren’t just events—they’re community experiences, where knowledge is shared, stories are told, and trust is built.

We work hand-in-hand with community leaders at every stage, from planning to mobilization. Their involvement ensures that our initiatives reflect local realities and foster a strong sense of ownership among participants. It’s not about imposing solutions—it’s about co-creating them.

Our gender-sensitive approach makes a tangible difference. We don’t just encourage participation—we actively support it, especially for those who are often left behind. By creating environments where everyone feels safe and seen, we’ve empowered community members to seek support, access services, and take charge of their health and wellbeing.

The results speak for themselves: increased service uptake, stronger community bonds, and powerful testimonials from participants who feel more connected, informed, and hopeful.

This is what impact looks like—communities coming together, growing stronger, and proving that peaceful coexistence isn’t just a goal. It’s a reality we’re building together.
